Important Installation Note for Jeep Compass Owners
This kit requires an existing FACTORY OEM ELECTRIC POWER TAILGATE. Please verify that your Jeep Compass is equipped with the original electric tailgate before placing an order.
The 3rd Generation Jeep Compass was unveiled in May 2025 and entered production in 2025 for the 2026 model year.
The new Compass is based on the STLA Medium platform and is offered with multiple powertrain options depending on market, including mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric configurations.
The European-market version is identified by the project/model code J4U and is currently sold across European markets. Official Jeep European websites currently show the new Compass J4U in e-Hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric configurations.
The North American version uses the separate J4D project code and is planned for later production. Therefore, J4D should not currently be treated as an already available North American retail model.
The North American production schedule has been revised, with production planned at Belvidere, Illinois. The timing is later than the European launch.
Important: The European J4U and North American J4D should not automatically be assumed to use identical tailgate hardware. Please verify the exact market specification and vehicle configuration before ordering.
Not every trim necessarily has identical factory electric tailgate equipment. Please verify that your vehicle has the original OEM electric power tailgate.
